I’d like to talk about cactus which is myfavorite plant on this planet. I have one right by my desktop. It's been therefor a while. It looks adorable. It’s covered by small thorn, like a green fuzzytennis ball. It just quietly stands there, like a small guardian.

Well, like all living things, they varygreatly. It occurs in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Some look like baretrees. Others resemble small balls covered by thorns. Some reports show that itcan absorb radiation. That explains why many people put it at home.

As for where it lives, well most cactuslive in habitats subject to at least some drought. Many live in extremely dryenvironments, even being found in the Atacama Desert, one of thedriest places on earth.

Now, let me explain why I like it so much.Cactus show many adaptations to conserve water. It probably is the strongestplant on this planet. It can survive in the worst environments. It doesn’t needmuch attention or care. Leave it alone, it just thrives. In addition, it isalso important for the eco-system in China. As you know, there are large areaof deserts in my country, so we need cactuses to guard and bring green and lifeto the desert. Cactus is really of great importance.

Yes, I do. I believe farming can givechildren a sense of achievement. Witnessing a plant or a crop growing from aseed to a bud and then prospering is quite meaningful. In addition, they canhave a clear idea how plants are like in different stages and how long eachstage lasts. Interest in biology can also be triggered in this way. Besides,being involved in farming can let children know it is hard for farmers to growcrops, so they will tend to treasure food rather than wasting it.

2.   For thosepeople who lived in city, where do you think they could have some plant?

Well, there are lots of plants which aresmall in size and are suitable to be kept in home. For example, potted flowers,cactus and so on. They can be kept in living rooms, balconies and bedrooms andthey are available in markets. Once you buy them, the shop owner would tell youhow to care them. All you need to do is to water them and pull the weeds. Well,trust me, you will feel relaxed and happy when you see beautiful or greenplants grow perfectly in your balcony bathing the sunlight.

3.   Can youexplain why some people like to farming?

In my opinion, it is because farming cangive people a sense of achievement. Witnessing a plant or a crop growing from aseed to a bud and then prospering is quite meaningful. In addition, many people like togrow organic crops so that they can eat fresh, healthy and nutrient vegetablesand fruits every day.

4.   Have youever had a plant?

Well, my mother buy flowers once a week andput them in the living room as decoration. Every time when I open the door ofmy home, I can smell the sweet fragrance, which makes my feel relaxed. Up tonow, we have had rose, lily, violet, jasmine and carnation. All of them arestunning and in my opinion, the living room is lit up by them. I love theflowers so much and I always share photos of them online. Usually, I canreceive lots of likes and comments, which make me feel satisfied.

5.   ls there anyone around you have a plantbefore? Why they have it?

My neighbor likes to grow lots of greenplants in his balcony. From a distance, you can only see large areas of greenleaves covering his balcony. He told me that he loves plants. What’s more,plants can absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen thus making the air qualitybetter. Lastly, green is a color which is said to be good for eyes and easingfatigue. I guess these are the reasons why he keeps so many plants.

6.   Do you think there will be more people farmtheir own crops in the future?

Yes, I do. As lots of news have reported,nowadays many fertilizers and pesticides which are applied to crops are toxicand may do harm to people who eat those crops. In this case, I believe more andmore people will try to grow crops in person. They can ensure those fruits andvegetables are safe and fresh at least, so they will feel more assured whenhaving meals. At the same time, I believe better fertilizers and pesticideswhich are eco-friendly, safe and can ensure higher yields will be invented inthe future.

7.   Have you ever think about become a farmer?

Well, actually I haven’t. To tell you thetruth, I am kind of lazy. However, farmers’ job is quite hard. They have to getup early and think about the crops all the time. In addition, usually farmerswork under the sun while I do not want be exposed to sunlight for such a longperiod of time because I don’t want my skin to get black. You know, as a girl Iwant myself to always be beautiful and pretty. So farmer is by no means anideal job for me, but farmers are respectful. It is because of them that we canhave produce and have a balance diet.

8.   What are the benefits for having plantsindoor?

As for the plants, people can control thetemperature, humidity and light indoor. Plants can also be protected fromstrong wind, heavy rain and snow. Therefore, it is more appropriate to plantmore fragile and precious plants indoor. As for people who live with thoseplants, the air quality can be improved as plants can absorb carbon dioxide andrelease oxygen. They can also have a better mood and feel relaxed becauseplants are helpful to ease fatigue.

9.   What’s the difference between having plantindoor and outdoor?

The size is different definitely. Generallyspeaking, plants which grow indoors are smaller than those that grow outdoorsas there is no enough room. Besides, people can control the temperature,humidity and light indoor. Plants can also be protected from strong wind, heavyrain and snow. Therefore, it is more appropriate to plant more fragile andprecious plants indoor. However, plants grow outdoor can bathe in sunlight moredirectly.
