when it comes to learning a foreignlanguage, I really want to learn French although it is very difficult. I learntit about three years ago, when I was a junior in college. Because my collegehas provided French class for students, I seized the opportunity at once. MyFrench teacher was a French guy with wonderful accent and handsome outlook. Inthe class, he spoken French an English. He always spoken French first and thentranslated his words into English. He said this way could help us could listenand understand French. As the lessons went on, he weakened the role of English,and seldom translated for us unless we showed him our confusing faces. Ofcourse, we would make practice in class. And before each lesson, he would standin front of the door and make French conversations with us, like “how is yourweekends?” “have you got a lunch?” until we answered his questions, we can gotinside the classroom. I think it’s very interesting. In terms of the reason whyI want to learn French even though it’s a bit difficult, I think it’s because Ithink French is very romantic and I always want to travel in France. It’sbetter to learn some French before I go there.

Yes. I enjoy learning languages, because Ilive in Shanghai, a very international city. There are lots of foreigners andby learning different languages, I can communicate with them. Additionally,when I learn a language, I also learn its culture and it broadens my horizon.

2.   How did you learn the languages that youknow?

I think it’s because of globalization.Speaking more than one language, people can talk to people from differentcountries and trade with them or learn new things from them.

3.   Why do people learn more than one language?

Most of time, I will have lessons about thelanguage. With the help of professional teachers, I can acquire a languagerapidly. But sometimes I will also learn languages by myself. For example,through watching movies or TV programs.

4.   Do you think that all children should learnforeign languages at school?

Yes. At least one foreign language. As Isaid before, the trend of globalization creates a new environment with peoplefrom different countries. If we learn at least one foreign language at school,we can talk to them and make friends with them.

5.   Do you think ifs good to learn a secondlanguage? Why?

I think so. when we learn a secondlanguage, it can practice our mind because we need to change our languagepattern frequently, which makes our mind more flexible.in addition, acquiring asecond language will help us adapt to the globalized society easily.

6.   Which language will become most common onein the future?

English, maybe. At present, English hasalready became the most widespread language. May countries use it as theirofficial language and other countries like China are encouraging people tolearn English as their second language. So I think in the near future, almosteveryone in the world can speak English.
