 Some people support the developments in agriculture such as factory farming and creations of new types of fruits and vegetables, while others oppose this view. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

MODEL:
 The invention of new technologies always comes with controversy. People diverge on the issue of factory farming with one view claiming that this will exert positive effects on human beings whereas others contend that the

innovation in farming may lead to severe outcome.

 Granted, developments in agriculture may have negative outcome. For instance, fruits that are grown out of season may need a higher consumption on energy and emit more greenhouse gas than the seasonal ones, which puts a heavy burden on our environment. What’s more, some invention may have temporary effects, but are detrimental to the ecosystem in the long run. For example, in order to guarantee the quantity of farming, farmers may use a large amount of fertilizers and pesticide. The abuse of pesticide has caused some pests to be more resilient, which makes them even more damaging than before, yet harder to eliminate.

 However, there are breakthroughs in agriculture that exerts positive effects as well. The creation of a new breed of some products may yield more output. With a booming population in recent years, more food is needed to

feed more population, thus necessitating a higher agricultural output. In addition, fruits and vegetables growing by new methods can also have positive impact economically. For example, produces grown by factory farming

can have lower prices since it reduces labour cost.

In my opinion, every technology has its merits and demerits, so as developments in agriculture. Factory farming do contribute to solution to starvation and guarantee of agriculture safety though some of the gene problems

may be damaging to human health and environmental problem may also be considered. It relies on us to determine which ones can affect our society positively for a better future of human beings.
